Search Part
There are five search areas to access to the records of the INIS database, corresponding each to a strategy implementing specific functionalities.
Simple Search
You can access to the Simple Search mode from the home page, through a simple input field.
The search is performed by entering words or characters, and applies at the same time on all metadata fields.
This simple search area is also available when displaying the results of a search, and also on the page displaying a detailed record.
See Help Simple Search
Advanced Search
You can access to the Advanced Search mode from the main menu.
The search is here performed on selected metadata fields, with
Expert Search
You can access to the Expert Search mode from a link in the Advanced Search page.
The search is here performed by entering a query which will be directly sent to the search engine (Elasticsearch) which was used to index the bibliographic records of the collection, without any transformation.
In order to learn about the query language, see Help Expert Search
Search by Classification
You can access to the Search by Classification mode from the main menu.
The strategy is based here on browsing in the classification plan, from the visualization of one code and its associated codes, when they are present.
From a given code, you can start a search to find all the records which have been enriched with this classification code.
See Help Search by Classification
Search by Thesaurus
You can access to the Search by Thesaurus mode from the main menu.
The strategy is here, as a first step, to query the INIS thesaurus to select a term, view the detail of the associated concept, then to create a small search equation.
The equation can be augmented by the search of a second term, and so on.
As a second step, once this equation is entirely established, you can start a search on the documentary collection, possibly selecting the concerned metadata.
